This pattern is for a newborn baby. The finished size is 5.5 x 5.5 inches (14 x 14 cm) approximately.
The design of this pixie baby bonnet is really simple:
1. You will start off by crocheting a rectangle to the required width and length.
2. You will then fold the rectangle in half.
3. You will join one side of your work with a slip stitch seam.
4. Finally, a couple of ties and some edging made up of single crochet stitches will be worked around the front of the bonnet. The back of the hat will be shaped by working sc2tog stitches along the back edge.
For the yarn, I used Hobbii Rainbow Cotton 8/4. This yarn is very similar to a #2 sport / 4 ply yarn. It’s very soft, does not split, and comes in a wonderful range of colours to choose from.
This is a beginner-friendly crochet tutorial and as long as you know how to work the following stitches, you will have no problem in making up this easy crochet baby bonnet :

sc2tog – single crochet 2 together
sl st – slip stitch
