4×4 Basket Weave Knitting Pattern

One of the simplest basket weave stitches, this “purl 4, knit 4 for 4 rows” variation would be perfect for any homeware project.

Difficulty level: Easy

You need a stitch number multiple of 8 + 8 + 2 edge stitches. Repeat the pattern between the arrows as many times as you like.

Work right side rows (1, 3, etc.) from right to left, as shown in the chart. Work all stitches on the wrong side as they appear.

Row 1 & 3: edge st, p2, * k4, p4; repeat from * to last 7 sts, k4, p2, edge st
Row 2 & 4: edge st, k2, p4, * k4, p4; repeat from * to last 3 sts, k2, edge st
Row 5 & 7: edge st, k2, * p4, k4; repeat from * to last 7 sts, p4, k2, edge st
Row 6 & 8: edge st, p2, k4, * p4, k4; repeat from * to last 3 sts, p2, edge st

Repeat rows 1 through 8.
